Magic supplies in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
Magic supplies delivered to Scranton: trick decks, coin gimmicks, close-up props, mentalism tools and stage apparatus.
We post to every address in Lackawanna County and the rest of Pennsylvania — there is no shop floor in Scranton, and no separate pricing by city.
Scranton is small enough that the local magic scene is probably three people who know each other. That is not a disadvantage — it is how most performers learn, and a smaller room is a more honest audience than a big one.
Searches for a magic shop in Scranton mostly turn up party-supply aisles and fancy-dress racks. What a performer actually wants is narrower: a decent deck that does something, a coin gimmick that stands examination, and a close-up mat to work on. That is what this catalogue is — props and gimmicks chosen by what survives performance, not by what fills a shelf.
Scranton
Mentalism
The quietest magic and often the strongest. Forcing dice, a dice box that reads what is shaken inside it, brass mental dice and PK rings let you know a thought, a number or a word without ever touching a deck. It plays to adults, it plays in corporate rooms, and it leaves no prop to blame.
Scranton
Stage and parlour
Props that read from the back row: appearing and vanishing canes, flower productions, linking rings in 30cm chrome, silks, flash bags and the larger apparatus. Stage material asks more of your staging than your fingers — the method is usually simple and the presentation is the whole job.

Starting out in Scranton
The first year is about repetition, not acquisition. Pick one effect, perform it a hundred times for real people, and only then buy the second one. Everything in the beginner collection is chosen to survive that kind of use.

Where to buy magic tricks in Scranton
Look for a magic shop in Scranton and you will turn up costume shops and toy sections. Neither stocks a Svengali deck or a close-up mat worth owning. The props a performer actually wants come by post, which is why every listing here says what is in the box, whether instructions come with it, and how hard the thing is to do.

Magic in the Northeast
The northeast has the densest concentration of magic clubs in the country, and New York in particular has a long close-up tradition running from Dai Vernon's circle through to the sessions still happening in the back of coffee shops.
